Korean Jindo Dog Pedigree Database

The Korean Jindo Dog (한국 진돗개, 진도견) originates from an island located off the southwest coast of South Korea. The breed name is taken from the name of the island, Jindo (진도).
The dogs lived unrestrained on the island alongside their owners for thousands of years to develop into a medium-sized, natural breed with renown hunting abilities.
In modern times, the breeding of the dogs has largely been shifted to controlled breedings among breeding kennels or owners. Within the island, assessed dogs receive Jindo County certificates, and dogs that have been transported off the island to the mainland of Korea have had pedigrees generated by various Jindo dog organizations.
When these dogs are moved internationally, it is often the case that their known pedigrees are reduced to 3 generations or erased entirely by the new registry. There are also some variations in the Romanization of the dogs’ Korean names to English, which can give the impression of unrelatedness when in actuality, the dogs are related via a popular ancestor.
Due to these issues, the Korean Jindo Dog Association of America (KJDAA) offers this online pedigree database as a service to all fanciers of pedigreed Korean Jindo Dogs.
Any guest viewer of the database may do simple searches for dogs and see general information fields, including Wright’s Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI).
An account, which is free of charge, is required in order to access additional fields and tools. There are two account types with different levels of priviledges:
User Account: Able to add/edit dogs. Able to see all fields which includes the health fields. Able to do Advanced Searches.
Club Member Account: In addition to having all the privileges of a User Account, a Club Member account is able to do Advanced Searches, Trial Matings, and Common Ancestor Searches. Club Members are able to create a Breeder Profile. As this account type allows advertisement of studs and litters, this is currently limited to KJDAA Club members (both within the U.S. and internationally) who have agreed to the KJDAA Code of Ethics.
